On the unceded territory of the Gitxsan Nations, the transformative learning experiences in the Majagaleehl Gali Aks French Immersion program are designed to help our students grow both in and out of the classroom. Founded in 1994 and with the community at the centre of our success and learning, the french immersion program has a proven track record of highly successful graduates, many of whom return to the community to put their education and experience to use.
Learning french (or any other language) helps students become better at learning other new languages.

Quebec-Hazelton Exchange a Glowing Success!
March 2017
15 students from Hazelton Secondary School travelled to Quebec for their annual Carnival celebration. Carnival was created by a population often faced with harsh winters who used the festivities to warm their hearts during the cold season. It certainly warmed our hearts!
Hazelton dominates concours
April 2017
Concours is an annual public speaking competition hosted by local CPF chapters. Local winners go on to compete at the regional competition. Hazelton students brought home 8 out 13 awards at the regional Concours competition.

Tensions were high at the Coast Mountains School District board meeting in Terrace last night when trustees faced another decision about whether to cut the high school French Immersion program in the district. Coast Mountains SD82 trustees decided to not cut French Immersion in Hazelton and Kitimat Wednesday night. Read more...
